In May 2015 Visual Approach Images went on the road to Minsk in the former Russian state of Belarus. Local company Merlintour had arranged a series of opportunities to travel on several Soviet manufactured airplanes and visit the Belarussian capital Minsk as part of a 3 day package.
The trip began in Geneva and we were to travel on the national airline Belavias last ever Tupolev Tu-154 service from western Europe. The type was being replaced by more modern Boeing and Embraer equipment, so we had the opportunity to see the classic Tu-154 bow out after 32 years of service with Belarussian operators.
Minsk-based freight operator Ruby Star provided an Ilyushin IL-76 and an Antonov AN-12 in which our group of aviation enthusiasts and photographers could enjoy a local flight.
